What are the benefits of driving electric?
Driving electric offers a range of powerful advantages:

What is the minimum age to rent?
You must be 25 years or older with a valid driver’s license.
Drive Electric reserves the right to decline any rental at its discretion.
What do I need to rent a car?

How do I book?
All bookings are completed online at:

Do prices include insurance and VAT?
Yes. All daily rates include comprehensive insurance and VAT.
An excess of up to R5000 applies (depending on vehicle model).
What is the excess?
The excess is your maximum liability in the event of damage.
Any damage up to this amount is for the renter’s account.
Once the excess is reached, insurance will cover the remaining costs.
Is there a zero-excess option?
No. We recommend checking whether your travel insurance or credit card covers rental excess.
What if the damage is not my fault?
The renter is still liable for all damages, including accidental tyre and windscreen damage, during the rental period.
Are there any hidden or additional costs?
Only extra kilometres or damages are charged.
A discretionary valet fee may apply if the vehicle is returned excessively dirty or shows evidence of smoking.
Can I add extra drivers?
Yes. Extra drivers are free of charge, provided we receive a valid license before the rental.
Vehicles may not be entrusted to a third party without our prior approval.
Do you offer deliveries and collections?
No. All vehicles must be collected and returned to our dedicated locations, selected at checkout.
Can I collect in one city and return in another?
This service is only available between Cape Town and Johannesburg.
How do airport collections and drop-offs work?
Simply select your preferred airport option when booking.
What happens to my card details?
Your payment information is stored securely using internationally recognised secure payment systems.
Can I rent for less than 24 hours?
You may return the vehicle earlier, but all rentals are charged on a 24-hour basis.
What is your cancellation policy?

2+ weeks before rental: 100% refund

Less than 2 weeks: 50% booking fee is forfeited
What should I do in the event of an accident?
Call us immediately.
If another vehicle or witnesses are involved, collect their details and take photos of all damages.
A police report is required for any insurance claim. We will assist you.
Are pets allowed?
No. Pets are not permitted.
Any evidence of animals in the vehicle may result in damage charges and a valet fee.
Are the vehicles tracked?
Yes. All vehicles are tracked for your safety.
Any alerts relating to irresponsible driving may result in contract cancellation.
